Frequently Asked Questions
Do families have questions about hiring a nanny?
Absolutely—and we’re here to answer them. At The Noble Nanny, we guide families nationwide through every step of the nanny placement process, from understanding nanny rates and domestic staffing options to hiring the right caregiver for your home. Whether you’re in New Jersey, New York, Florida, California, or beyond, we make finding a trusted, dependable nanny simple, supported, and stress-free.
🔹 How does the hiring process work?
We begin with a personalized consultation to understand your family’s needs, schedule, and values. From there, we craft a job description, conduct a targeted search, and present pre-screened candidates. You’ll receive support through interviews, and trials.
🔹What are typical nanny rates in the US?
Rates typically range from $20 to $30+ per hour, depending on experience, schedule, and responsibilities. We guide families in offering fair, competitive compensation that reflects caregiver expertise and regional standards. In addition to hourly pay, many families provide benefits such as health insurance stipends, paid vacation, paid sick and personal days, paid holidays, and an annual bonus—ensuring caregivers feel valued, supported, and committed for the long term.

🔹 How long does the process take?
At The Noble Nanny, timelines vary, but most Florida placements take 4–8 weeks from intake to hire. We prioritize thoughtful matching over speed, focusing on long-term success and lasting caregiver relationships.
🔹How many nannies should I expect to interview?
Most families interview 2 to 4 nanny candidates before making a final decision. At The Noble Nanny, we focus on thoughtful matching—not overwhelming you with options. Each candidate is carefully selected based on your household’s needs, values, and preferences. Some families find the right fit quickly, while others prefer to meet a few caregivers to feel confident in their choice. Either way, the process is guided, supported, and tailored to your comfort level.
🔹What if the nanny isn’t the right fit?
We offer one replacement within a 12-month period. If your placement doesn’t work out due to unforeseen circumstances, we’ll restart the search at no additional cost. This guarantee excludes voluntary departures, family relocations, or changes in household needs—but ensures continued support when the match isn’t the right fit.
🔹 What types of nannies do you place?

🔹What’s included in the registration and placement fees?

This covers final vetting, offer support, agreement drafting assistance, payroll guidance, and one replacement within a 12-month period—ensuring your experience is smooth, supported, and built to last.
All fees are non-refundable.
🔹Where do you find your nannies?
At The Noble Nanny, we source candidates through a trusted mix of professional and community-based channels. This includes college job boards, local parent groups, caregiver networks, and selective job postings. Many candidates also apply directly through our website.
🔹What is your screening process for nanny candidates?
1. Initial Interview & Qualification
If a candidate meets our minimum requirements—at least 23 years old, non-smoker, with a minimum of 3 years professional childcare experience—we schedule a comprehensive interview. During this conversation, we explore their caregiving background, preferred age groups, child-rearing philosophies, and ideal work environment. We ask behavior-based questions to assess their style as a caregiver and employee, looking for polished professionalism, English proficiency, congeniality, and clear communication. This step helps us understand not just what they’ve done, but how they approach care—with emotional intelligence, ethical boundaries, and a commitment to respectful household dynamics.
2. Reference Checks
Once the interview is complete, we personally contact references by phone to ask detailed questions about the candidate’s past performance and reputation. We verify that their history aligns with their interview responses and dig deeper into their professional relationships. We ask about the nature of the relationship between the employer and the nanny, why the employment ended, what age group the nanny is best suited for, and which tasks or environments may not be a good fit. We also inquire about the nanny’s communication style, reliability, and ability to handle challenges. This step ensures we’re not just reviewing a résumé—we’re building a full picture of how the caregiver has supported families in real life.
3. Final Background Check
After a family makes an offer, we initiate a professional background check through a licensed agency. The report includes:
-
National criminal history
-
Sex offender registry search
-
Social Security number verification
-
Address history
-
Motor vehicle records (if driving is required)
-
Employment verification
This final step provides peace of mind and ensures every placement is built on trust, transparency, and thorough due diligence.
🔹How do I hire a nanny in the US?
There are many ways to find a nanny, but not all offer real support. Online listings and referrals might connect you with candidates, but they often leave you managing vetting and logistics on your own. With The Noble Nanny, you’re guided every step of the way—from defining the role to meeting experienced, values-aligned caregivers—so hiring feels clear, confident, and built to last.
🔹Do you provide help with payroll?
Yes. While The Noble Nanny does not directly process payroll, we guide families toward trusted third-party payroll providers and offer support in understanding legal requirements, tax obligations, and best practices. From nanny tax basics to setting up compliant payment systems, we help ensure your household is informed and protected.
